Deireadh seachtaine i Luimneach / Weekend in Limerick

A chairde,

Tháinig muid ar ais ó chuairt iontach i Luimneach inné, i ndiaidh taispeántas damhsa a fheiceáil a rinne cara dár gcuid, Nora Rodriguez. Tá Nora ag freastal ar chúrsa MA sa Damhsa Comhaimseartha ag Ollscoil Luimnigh, agus bhí an taispeántas sin mar chuid dá measúnacht don chúrsa. Bhí sé ar dóigh agus bhí sé go hiontach ní amháin a cuid damhsa a fheiceáil (a bhí ar fheabhas!), ach bualadh le cairde eile de chuid Nora agus Alex. Chaith muid an oíche ar an champas agus d’fhreastail muid ar dhinnéar deas a bhí ar siúl acu mar chóisir dheireadh na bliana (‘prom’ a thug siad air!), agus bhí an craic ‘s an cuideachta go breá.

Ar maidin Dé Sathairn, chuaigh muid le Nora agus Alex go dtí an margadh i lár chathair Luimnigh – is margadh iontach, mór millteach seo! Bhí achan sort bídh, dí, ealaíne, ceirdeanna, agus duine ann, agus bhí ceol den scóth ar siúl i gcúpla áit, fosta. Bhain muid an-sult as agus caithfidh mé a adhmháil go bhfuil sé i bhfad níos fearr ná an margadh atá againn in nGaillimh, go príomha mar bhí dian ollmhór thar an mhargadh, agus ní raibh daoine taobh amuigh insan fhearthainn! Cliste ar fad… Agus sular imigh muid, bhí an t-ádh orainn éisteacht le cúpla amhrán a dúirt Alex leis an ghiotár ina árasán. Tá guth iontach deas aige agus tá an-chumas aige sa cheol.

Ar ais linn i nGaillimh anois, agus i ndiaidh oíche dheas a chaitheamh sa Skillet i mBaile Átha an Rí lenár gcairde ceoil, tá muid ag obair linn ar na tráchtais agus ag ullmhú don scrúdú mór atá againn amárach. Seolaigí ádh chugainn, le bhur dtoil! 🙂

Le dea-ghuí,

Amanda

Hey folks,

So we came back yesterday from a wonderful visit in Limerick, after seeing the dance performance of one of our friends, Nora Rodriguez. Nora is doing the MA in Contemporary Dance at the University of Limerick, and this performance was part of her end-of-year assessments. It was the first of its kind I’ve seen and was fabulous, not only to see her beautiful dancing but to also meet with Nora and Alex (Mac Donald)’s friends there. We spent the night on campus and attended a fancy dinner they had all arranged as an end-of-the-year party (which they called their ‘prom!’), and the craic was mighty!

Saturday morning, we went with Nora and Alex to the Milk Market that’s in Limerick city center – it is a fabulous and really big market, indeed! There were all sorts of food, drink, artwork, crafts, and people there, and excellent music being played in every corner. We really enjoyed it and I must admit that it is significantly better than the one we have here in Galway, mostly due to the gigantic roof that covered the whole thing so that people weren’t outside in the pissing rain! Very clever… and then before we left, we were lucky enough to listen to Alex sing a couple of songs with his guitar, a talent we did not know he had and at which he is very talented!

Now we’re back in Galway, and after a lovely evening of tunes in the Skillet in Athenry with our music buddies, we’re working away on theses and preparing for our big exam tomorrow. Send us luck, please!

Love,

Amanda
